Application Info

 

Students who are interested in the UCDC Program must complete the online application in order to be considered for admission. The online application can be accessed in the "Apply Now" section.

Deadline:

  • DEADLINE IS SEPTEMBER 18, 2017 at 5pm FOR SPRING 2018 APPLICANTS
  • Submit all application materials before the deadline, September 18, 2017 at 5pm. deadline.
  • Deadline for Letters of Recommendation is September 18, 2017 by 11:59pm, they should be emailed to rseymour3@ucmerced.edu.

Selection Criteria

  • Junior or Senior in participating semester
  • Good Academic Standing - 3.0 GPA or above preferred 

Interview

  • Qualified applicants will be contacted to participate in an interview.

 

UCDC Application Instructions

 

1. Complete Online Application Form

2.  Personal Statement

  • Two pages, double spaced essay regarding the following:
  • How would studying in Washington, D.C. help you achieve your academic goals?
  • How does the UCDC Program fit in your graduation requirements?
  • What type of agency or organization would you like to intern at?
  • What type of experience would you expect to gain?
  • What are your plans after graduation and how will the UCDC Program help you achieve your goals?
  • What unique qualities can you bring to que UCDC Program?

4. Transcript

  • Unofficial transcript is acceptable.
  • To digitize your transcript, you can scan an official copy or copy and paste an unofficial copy from your MyUCMerced Portal into a Word document.

5. Writing Sample

  •  Submit a five-page writing sample
  • The sample should demonstrate your ability to research a topic and analyze the data collected and your ability to write clearly about your findings.

6. (2) Letters of Recommendation

  • Two letters of recommendation are required for each applicant.
  • One letter must be from a UC Merced faculty member.
  • Letters must be submitted by writers directly to the Program Coordinator, Rachel Seymour at rseymour3@ucmerced.edu

7. Academic Advising Form

  •  Academic Advising Form is available below.
  •  You must meet with your academic advisor and complete the Academic Advising Form.
  • You are required to meet with your academic advisor to determine if the UCDC Program fits into your degree plan, as well as your overall academic and professional goals.
